The riding of Halifax Armdale is primarily a residential area consisting of single-family homes and small apartment buildings. Armdale also holds the commercial hub of the Halifax Shopping Centre as well as the growing populations of Cowie Hill and Fairmount. As of the 2021 provincial election the district of Halifax Armdale also includes the neighbourhoods east of Joseph Howe Drive all the way up to the Bedford Highway.
